A t.v. show i watched

I just recently watched a t.v show about bullying and it really surprised me how many kids get bullied and what they end up wanting to do to themselves (cutting, killing, ect.) they also mentioned the schools not doing anything about it; school should be a FUN/SAFE learning environment, absolutley everyone should feel safe and these kids don't. I find this terribly sad and i take this into major consideration now.
How many of you have gotten bullied? Did you feel different about yourself? Did anyone do anything about it? (you don't HAVE to answer this if you're not comfortable)
I truly wish bullying didn't exist and i wonder what we could do to prevent it. Why do people feel good about treating others badly? We are all equal... no one is better than anyone.

Well, I just wanted to get my word out there and i want to help the kids who are getting bullied. Everyone should be apart of it, we could save lives and make the world a better place.

  1. Wow, I wish I could have seen this show and I think it's great you watched it and shared your oppinion with the rest of the world. I personally have never been severely bullied but I have met people who have and I know what it is like through their eyes.

In my old schools I have always had big talks about bullying, teachers made it in to a long boring thing that students learn not to care about. I myself have felt that if someone is planning to talk to a class about bulying it is going to be the same repetative talk that no one cares aout because the have heard it before.

Here, In your short but perfect post it was so simple to understand that bullying is a problem. It doesn't necessarily mean that schools need to have more lectures on bully prevention but it is there. I really think it would be great if schools, students, and teachers could discuss bully prevention in an interactive and facinating way. I know it is not a fun topic to talk about but I feel it is neccesary as long as it is not over used.

Due to this in the few places I have been the word bullying is a joke but that has got to stop. thanks to this post this whole paragraph has come to my head. I haven't thought of bullying in a while, thanks for brining it up.

I can't wait see more of your insightful posts

  2. I would love to know what that TV show was, if you remember. I am hoping to teach a class about bullying and tolerance based on a book called The Revealers. It is all about bullying in schools. This is a powerful message and an important message to share! I may have to steal your idea and make a blog post assignment based on this idea.

  3. maddy- i agree with you! if we came up with a more facinating way to talk about bullying and try to prevent it then i feel it would get more peoples attention rather then the long boring talks.
megan- that's awesome that you want to teach a class about bullying and tolerance based on that book. it sounds like a great idea!(:
