Joachim de Posada, the speaker of the marshmallow experiment explained how kids 4-5 years of age were placed in a room for 15 minutes and were told not to eat the marshmallow; if they succeeded they would be given another one. two out of three ate the marshmallow; the others picked it up and smelled it, sat it back down and went to walk around the room trying to find a distraction. later on, about 15 years later they went to find the kids who were 18 & 19 years old, they found that 100% of the kids who didn't eat the marshmallow were successful and the kids who had eaten the marshmallow were not as successful. the point of this experiment was to see how many of the children already knew self-discipline (the most important factor for success) and for those who did would most likely be successful and guess what, the experiment was correct. funny how a marshmallow can determine whether a person is going to be successful or not.
ohh well thanks.
